World Of Warcraft Naga

Over the Semester I created two clay sculpture. One was an anatomy study of a human body. Half showed the bone structure the other half showed the muscular system. The second sculpture was an anthropomorphic model that had to have multiple skeletal and muscular structures combined. I chose to model out a Naga from World Of Warcraft which I think turned out really well. But take a look for yourself to make your own opinion.

Sticky Surfaces and Clay

I wrapped steel wiring around the legs and arms and wrapped tinfoil around the head and torso so the clay would stick to it better. I made hip bones from the steel wiring and tried to fix the proportions of him a little. I then put Clay all over him and focused mainly on the hips and ribs areas.

Discussion Week 14

  • What did you find interesting about the reading?

It is interesting to think about all of these resources developers are putting into the VR to try and keep it afloat in the industry. This could be seen as a bad sign by people. If a technology like this cant be self sufficient then what happens when those resources run out or people stop caring? Not good things I assure you.

  • What aspect of the reading will have the most impact on your projects and work?

After reading this I think it might be worth putting more time towards developing projects for VR. My VR project right now is pretty ideal for me. If I continue to develop it I could eventually pitch the idea to a publisher and start fully laying out the project.

  • How does the reading apply to me?

The reading applies to me because it is about renting out VR labs and currently I am looking to rent out a place right now. Now, this is an apartment rather than a work space, but the process would be pretty similar if I were ever in the stage that I would want to rent out a space to work with a team. Also, I could potentially just work in a place like one of these VR labs making games for some developer or producer.

  • What is the most important take away?

The most important take away is that VR is starting to gain ground as developers are renting and buying more spaces to develop VR. More VR spaces means more VR project which means more jobs for artists and programmers that have experience with VR.

Week 13 Discussion

  • What did you find interesting about the reading?

It is interesting how some developers are taking older card games and board games and throwing them into VR. This is especially interesting to me because I am doing something similar by taking inspiration from an older retro game and trying to mold it into a VR Experience.

  • What aspect of the reading will have the most impact on your projects and work?

Staying up to date on the latest technology is key for being successful in the industry. If a new, more efficient way to code or to model comes out its part of our jobs as developers to learn those new techniques so we can stay ahead of our competitors and up to date with technology as a whole.

  • How does the reading apply to me?

The reading applies to me because I am working on a VR Project, that might also become my Senior Innovation Project, and have a potential to work in the industry later down the line with VR or regular games.

  • What is the most important take away?

The most important takeaway has to be staying up to date on technology. We as people can only advance if we stay caught up. This can be hard because of how fast things are moving and updating but its the only way to move forward in any industry, not just games.
